ARTIST BIO

Jerica D. Wortham is an acclaimed bestselling author, award-winning spoken word artist, and a driving force in the arts community. Her multifaceted career includes founding J’Parlé and J’Parlé Live, a literary magazine and live show that amplifies diverse voices, serving as the Program Director for the Greenwood Art Project, the Pärlā Creative Festival, and the (B)light Project. In 2021, she was featured in OWN Network's docuseries The Legacy of Black Wall Street. Wortham lives in Tulsa with her husband Webster and their two sons, Solomon and Jonah.

The Pärlā Citywide Creative Festival, a dynamic celebration of BIPOC creativity, will illuminate Tulsa from September 15 through September 22, 2024. This week-long event will feature pop-up visual art installations in storefronts and BIPOC-owned venues, live concerts, fashion shows, film festivals, wellness workshops, and a vibrant dance festival. By activating nontraditional spaces across the city, Pärlā champions the talents of pro creatives and fosters community engagement, ensuring the entire city's place as a hub for cultural and artistic brilliance.
