ARTIST PROJECT INFO

Black Oklahoma x Land Memory [working title] explores and documents the profound relationship between Black Oklahomans and the state's landscapes, towns, neighborhoods, and historical sites of memory. Through community archiving events and on-site interviews, the project aims to create a database showcasing photos and narratives that intertwine with Southern, Cowboy, Trans-Atlantic, Afro-Indigenous, and Tulsa histories. Emphasizing the tender connections Black communities have with the land, the project also sheds light on the political histories that underpin these enduring relationships.
